Shaping the Future

In full cooperation with the search for common ground and the support of USAID, CARE's project, shaping the future

A documentary series demonstrates that, while not inevitable, peace is possible and agreements can be reached on the key issues. The series explores the background, the various positions, and the options for settlement in each of the disputed final status issues. The progran1s look at the following issues:

  • Right of return and refugees

  • Jerusalem

  • Settlements

  • Relations between the two states, incl. security issues

Methodology

The project is based on an existing infrastructure of groups of educators set up throughout the West Bank Each group works on a continuous basis throughout the scholastic year, tackling various issues relating to the complex current events, All of these programs try to explore how it is possible to implement values of human rights and understanding within the classroom.

Through this project, we propose to use four of these working groups which are already set up and have a working relationship. The educators, (hereafter referred to facilitators) leading the groups, who have already established a rapport with the teachers and have been trained through previous CARE programs; lead the project in each group. The team of four facilitators will work with their groups of eight to ten teachers each, to design educational material.

Together with the teachers in their groups these facilitators in order to create the teachers guide together with the teachers in their groups.
